The 2016 Super Bowl 50 will be available to stream live on your Roku. CBS is making Super Bowl 50 available to live stream free for cord cutters via their CBS Sports channel app. No cable or satellite authentication is required.
I tried this app for the first time this past weekend during the AFC playoffs and it worked great. None of the delays, hesitation, or pixelation that have plagued some other live sports streaming channels (ESPN on Sling TV, I am looking at you). The picture was crisp, bright, and smooth on the CBS Sports channel.
To add the CBS Sports channel app to your Roku, just search for CBS Sports from your on screen Roku channel store, or click here to add it to your Roku online.
A brief description of the CBS Sports channel app from the developer:
The CBS Sports app enables users to watch Video on Demand and Live Video streams of CBS Sports content. Users can browse through multiple categories, such as Football, Baseball, Fantasy Basketball, Viral Videos, and much more. Getting started is simple – just open the app and begin watching your favorite sports content.
Please note, to watch live streaming of NFL playoff games on the CBS app it appears you have to have Roku OS 7.0 or higher. Some older versions of Roku and older Roku TV’s do not currently have OS 7.0. You will want to check and see if you have 7.0 before you make plans to live stream Super Bowl 50.
